CDR Charles S. Barrs III

A native of Charleston, SC. Commander Barrs graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. In 2017 he completed a Masters in Engineering Management through Old Dominion University.

CDR Barrs’ assignments at sea include First Lieutenant in USS JOHN S MCCAIN (DDG 56), Machinery Division Officer in USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), Operations Officer in USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54), and Reactor Training Assistant in USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76).

CDR Barrs has served ashore as a Division Director and Instructor at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek, SC, and as the Deputy Director for Professional Development at the United States Naval Academy.
