Command Master Chief Adrian D. Watkins enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September 1994 and completed recruit training in Great Lakes, Illinois, followed by eight weeks of training at Basic Enlisted Submarine School and eight months of training at Strategic Weapons System Electronic "A" School.In November 1995, he reported aboard USS HENRY M. JACKSON (SSBN 730) as a member of the Strategic Weapons Department.  During this initial sea tour, he completed six deterrent patrols. Watkins then transferred to Naval Submarine Support Center, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in January 2000, before reporting to USS GEORGIA (SSBN 729) in February 2003.  After two years aboard, he conducted a split tour to USS ALASKA (SSBN 732), serving there until July 2006.

He then transferred to Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific, where he was selected for Chief Petty Officer in 2007 before reporting to USS HENRY M. JACKSON as the Missile Division Leading Chief Petty Officer.  In March 2010, he joined the staff of Commander, Navy Personnel Command as the Missile Technician Detailer.
 
Following that tour, Watkins served as the Commander, Task Force Individual Augmentee Senior Enlisted Leader for U.S. Naval Forces Central Command in Manama, Bahrain, from March to December 2013.  He then reported to USS LOUISIANA (SSBN 743) as the Strategic Weapons System Master Chief and Weapons Department Enlisted Advisor in April 2014.  During this tour, he was selected for advancement to Master Chief Petty Officer and subsequently serving as Chief of the Boat aboard USS NEVADA (SSBN 733) from July 2015 to January 2018. 

Following his COB tour, he served as the staff Command Master Chief of Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet. Watkins reported aboard USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19) in January 2020, where he is serving as Command Master Chief. Master Chief Watkins' personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (8 awards), and various unit and service awards.
