CDR Dawn Allen

Commanding Officer, USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110)

05 August 2019 CDR Dawn Allen, a native Texan, enlisted in the Navy in 1991 where she performed duties as an Aviation Ordnanceman and Helicopter Rescue swimmer. In 2001, she was commissioned via the Enlisted Commissioning Program from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Mathematics.

As a Surface Warfare Officer with a Nuclear Power specialty, CDR Allen served her first Division Officer tour as Strike Officer in USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60). During her second at sea tour, CDR Allen served as Reactor Electrical Division Officer in USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71). During this time, she also earned a M.S. in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University.

CDR Allen served two Department Head tours, to include as Operations Officer in USS RUSSELL (DDG 59) and as Chemical and Radiological Assistant in USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN 74) Ashore, CDR Allen taught at the University of Washington NROTC, served as Executive Officer of the PACFLT Nuclear Propulsion Examination Board performing inspections of aircraft carriers and submarines, and was assigned as the Ballistic Missile Defense Education and Operations Support Deputy Branch Chief, United States Northern Command. Most recently CDR Allen served as the Executive Officer of WILLIAM P LAWRENCE.

Commander Allen assumed command of WILLIAM P LAWRENCE in August 2019.
