Commander Chase hails from Norfolk, Virginia where he graduated from Maury High School in 2000. He spent his childhood (’82-’90) in Japan attending Japanese Elementary Schools. He attended the United States Naval Academy receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Japanese and his commission in May 2004.  
 
Commander Chase’s sea duty assignments include his current tour as Executive Officer of PCU CARL M. LEVIN (DDG 120) as well as tours onboard PCU / USS ZUMWALT (DDG 1000) as Chief Engineer, USS PREBLE (DDG 88) as Chief Engineer, and USS BARRY (DDG 52) as Navigator, Main Propulsions Officer, Repair 5 Locker Officer, NCVBSS Boarding Officer, and Legal Officer.
 
Commander Chase’s shore duty assignments consisted of Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet (CPF) N36 Assistant BMD Officer for Doctrine and Policy, CPF BMD Current Operations Watch Officer, CPF N3IAMD DRRS Officer, and CPF SBX CONOPS and Asset Management Officer, as well as most recently on the OPNAV staff in the N96 directorate as the Branch Head resource sponsor for all Radar Systems, Surface Navigation Systems, Surface EO/IR Systems, SSDS Integrated Combat System, Enterprise T&E, CSOSS, and CSSQTs (N96C3).  
 
Commander Chase graduated from Hawai’i Pacific University, Honolulu, Hawaii with a Master of Arts Degree, with Distinction, in Diplomacy and Military Studies in December, 2010. His Master’s Thesis (Professional Paper) centered on the diplomatic relationship between Japan and the Republic of Korea. While stationed at CPF in Hawaii, he also completed his Joint Professional Military Education (JPME), Phase I, with Distinction, through the Fleet Seminar Program from the U.S. Naval War College. 
 
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various campaign and service medals and ribbons.
