Commander DonAnn Gilmore hails from Anniston, AL and attended Pennsylvania State University where she received her commission through the Naval Reserves Officer Training Corps.

At sea, Commander Gilmore’s Division Officer assignments included USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44) as 2nd Lieutenant and Main Propulsion Division Officer and USS NORMANDY (CG 60) as Damage Control Assistant. She then served as Chief Engineer aboard USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66) and commanded Mine Countermeasures Crew EXULTANT.

Her shore and staff assignments include Afloat Training Group Atlantic Gas Turbine Training Team, Flag Secretary for Commander SEVENTH Fleet, and Assistant Captain Detailer at Naval Personnel Command.

Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various service campaign and unit decorations.
