Master Chief Ngov is a native of Battambong, Cambodia, and immigrated to the United States in 1981 to Houston, Texas. He later moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1985 and graduated from Belmont High School Class of 1990.
He enlisted in the Navy in November 1994 as an undesignated seaman and completed boot camp at Recruit Training Command (RTC) in Great Lakes, Illinois.
Master Chief Ngov’s tours include USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3), Sasebo, Japan; Assault Craft Unit One, Detachment Bravo, Sasebo, Japan; Naval Recruiting District Los Angeles, Point Mugu, California; USS McClusky (FFG 41), San Diego, California; USS Stockdale (DDG 106), San Diego, California; Coastal Riverine Squadron One, North Island, California; and Navy Operations Support Center, Corpus Christi, Texas.
Master Chief Ngov is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy Class 217 and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Class 206 in Newport, Rhode Island. He reported aboard USS Kidd (DDG 100) December 2019 where he is currently serving as the command master chief.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), as well as multiple unit and service awards.
