Command Master Chief, USS Momsen (DDG 92)

28 June 2019 A native of Ferdinand, IN, Master Chief Meyer enlisted in the Navy in September 1997. He attended Recruit Training Command (RTC) Great Lakes, IL, Aviation Electrician’s Mate (AE) "A" School and Advanced Avionics and Weapon Integrated Systems Maintenance (AAIWSM) "C" School in Pensacola, FL.

His sea duty assignments include Van Operational Detachment (VANOPDET) Whidbey Island, USS STENNIS (CVN 74), USS BATAAN (LHD 5), and Strike Fighter Squadron Eight Seven (VFA-87). His shore duty assignments include Fleet Readiness Center West (FRCW) Lemoore, CA and Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic (FRCMA) detachment Patuxent River, MD.

Master Chief Meyer was selected for the Command Senior Chief program in February 2016 and is a graduate of the Navy's Senior Enlisted Academy (Green Group, Class 196) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 162).

He holds an Associates in Applied Sciences Degree from Ivy Tech Community College. He is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist. His decorations include the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 Awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.

Master Chief Meyer has served as the Command Master Chief for LCS Crew 101 onboard USS Fort Worth and USS Wichita and currently serves as the Command Master Chief for USS Momsen homeported in Everett, WA.
