A native of Wagner, South Dakota, Commander Adam Soukup graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2002, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. He earned his master’s in Management and Leadership from Webster University in St. Louis, MO, in 2007.
At sea, he served as gunnery officer aboard USS Valley Forge (CG 50); auxiliaries officer aboard USS Curts (FFG 38); engineer officer on MCM Crew Dominant aboard USS Devastator (MCM 6), USS Scout (MCM 8), and USS Champion (MCM 4); engineer officer aboard USS Mobile Bay (CG 53); executive officer/commanding officer on MCM Crew Exultant aboard USS Scout (MCM 8), USS Pioneer (MCM 9), and USS Avenger (MCM 1); and executive officer aboard USS Sampson (DDG 102).
Ashore, he served as the C-Schools Department Head at the Center for Naval Engineering Learning Site, Great Lakes, IL; Command at Sea Directorate (N75) Course Coordinator for the Surface Commander’s, Prospective Commanding Officer’s, and Major Command Officer Courses at Surface Warfare Officers School Command, Newport, RI; and as a member of the Capability and Resource Integration Directorate (J8), Advanced Programs/Global Operations Innovation Initiative (GOII) Division, at U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt AFB, Omaha, NE.
CDR Soukup’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards) and Navy Achievement Medals (two awards), and other various personal, unit and service awards.
