Master Chief Blunt’s Command Master Chief tours include USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54), Yokosuka, Japan; VFA-195 “Dambusters”, Atsugi, Japan; Commander, Task Force SEVEN TWO/Fleet Air Forces Forward, Atsugi, Japan; Commanding General, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan. He reported in November 2019 as the Command Master Chief, Commander, Task Force SEVEN ZERO/Carrier Strike Group FIVE, Yokosuka, Japan.
Command Master Chief Blunt was selected as a Chief Petty Officer in 1998, Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2006, Master Chief Petty Officer in 2009 and Command Master Chief in 2010. He is a graduate of the Command Master Chief Course, Newport, Rhode Island the Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, Rhode Island, and the Marine Corps Non Commissioned Officer’s Academy in Okinawa, Japan. Master Chief Blunt holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology and Applied Science, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Management (Magna Cum Laude) and a Masters in Organizational Leadership.
His decorations and awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five), Combat Action Ribbon, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the 2009 Commander, Naval Air Forces Navy and Marine Corps Association Leadership Award and various other unit, campaign and personal awards.
