Command Master Chief Randall V. Johnson, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., enlisted in the United States Navy in October 1999. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill., he reported to Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. where he attended Hospital Corpsman “A” School. Upon graduation, he reported for duty at Naval Hospital Pensacola, Fla.
His operational assignments include USS Harry S Truman (CVN 75), homeported in Norfolk, Va.; USS West Virginia (SSBN 736), Kings Bay, Ga.; and USS Whidbey Island (LSD 41), Virginia Beach, Va. Johnson’s shore assignments include tours at Aviation Survival Training Center, Norfolk, Va., Surface Warfare Medical Institute, and the Naval Undersea Medicine Institute, Groton, Conn.
In November 2017, Johnson assumed the duties of Command Senior Chief, Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center Puget Sound in Bremerton, Wash. On May 3, 2019 Johnson was promoted to the rank of Command Master Chief. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 206 and the Command Master Chief and Chief of the Boat Course, Class 179. He has earned Surface Warfare, Enlisted Aviation, Submarine Warfare qualifications, and is a designated Master Training Specialist and Master Training Specialist Mentor.
His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
