Commander Greenfield is a native of Concord, North Carolina, and graduated from North Carolina State University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies, and commissioned through the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps.  He is a 2011 graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School, where he completed a Master of Business Administration, JPME Phase 1, and co-authored the article Selecting Maritime Disaster Response Capabilities, in the Journal of Operations and Supply Chain Management.
 
His sea tours include propulsion division officer and AT/FP officer aboard USS Dubuque (LPD 8); operations officer for Patrol Coastal Crew Charlie, where he served aboard USS Hurricane (PC 3), USS Sirocco (PC 6), USS Whirlwind (PC 11), and USS Thunderbolt (PC 12).  He served as the engineer officer on USS Tortuga (LSD 46) and USS Ashland (LSD 48), both forward deployed to Sasebo, Japan.  During his sea tours he deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Damayan, and completed numerous theater engagement exercises in the 7th Fleet AOR.
 
Ashore, Commander Greenfield served as an officer recruiter at Navy Recruiting District Raleigh; the Junior Officer Shore Coordinator for PERS-41 at Navy Personnel Command; the Navy Aide-de-Camp to the Commandant of the Marine Corps; and as a Defense Legislative Fellow on the staff of Senator Roger Wicker.
 
Commander Greenfield most recently completed a tour as Executive Officer on USS Germantown.
 
It has been his honor and privilege to serve with two Battle “E” crews.
