Hailing from St. Rose, Louisiana, Master Chief Petty Officer Jeffrey Auffenberg graduated boot camp in July 1997 from Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes, IL. He holds a dual Associates Degree from Coast Line Community College in Advanced Electronics and Technical Education and achieved status as a Master Training Specialist.
Ashore, he has served as advanced Tomahawk Weapon System Instructor at Fleet Combat Training Center Pacific; Afloat Planning Systems Detachment Pacific supporting deployed Carrier Strike Groups in the 7
th
and 5
th
Fleet Areas of Responsibility, where he was selected to the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
His afloat assignments include USS ELLIOT (DD-967) as a Tomahawk maintenance man, Work Center Supervisor and Assistant Engagement Control Officer; commissioning crew of USS SPRUANCE (DDG 111) as the pre-comm OIC / Command Chief, Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer, and Senior Enlisted Watchbill Coordinator, where he was selected for the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer; and COMDESRON 21 as the Combat Systems Senior Enlisted and Command Senior Enlisted Advisor, where he was selected for the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer and accepted into the Command Master Chief program.
Personal decorations include two Navy Commendation Medals, Five Navy Achievement Medals and a Military Outstanding Volunteering Service Medal.
