CDR Will Carr

Past Executive Officer, USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) Gold Crew

20 April 2018 A native of Bunkie, Louisiana, Cmdr. Will Carr earned a Bachelor’s of Science in History from the United States Naval Academy and commissioned in May 2002. He was selected as an Olmsted Scholar in Kyoto, Japan where he earned a Master’s Degree in International Studies from Doshisha University.

His operational tours include serving as strike officer aboard USS John S. McCain (DDG 56); combat information center officer aboard USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81); operations officer aboard USS Curts (FFG 38); and operations officer aboard USS Coronado (LCS 4).

Ashore, he served as the Japan plans and policy officer for the Joint Staff, J5; deputy battle captain in the National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center; littoral combat ship mission packages requirements officer for OPNAV N96; and on the staff of Commander, Naval Surface Forces in Coronado, California.

He is currently assigned as the executive officer of USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) Gold Crew.

His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
