He first served aboard USS STOUT (DDG 55) in Portsmouth, VA. He immediately deployed to the Middle East for six months where he earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and advanced to Electrician’s Mate Third Class Petty Officer. He reported to the USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) in 2000, earning his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and advanced to Second Class Petty Officer. Following his NIMITZ tour, he reported to Mid Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC), Norfolk, VA. He advanced to First Class Petty Officer and was selected to serve at Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron Four (MSRON 4) in 2005. While attached to MSRON 4, he deployed to the C5F AOR and quickly earned his Patrol Leader, Level II Coxswain, Small Craft Insignia, and Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare Specialist qualifications which led to his advancement to Chief Petty Officer.
In 2009, Master Chief Gordon served as the Leading Chief Petty Officer aboard Training Support Center Hampton Roads where he facilitated Naval Military Training for Intelligent Specialist new accession students, earning his Master Training Specialist qualification. Shortly afterwards, he reported aboard USS O’KANE (DDG 77) as Electrical Division Leading Chief Petty Officer where he completed two deployments to C5F and C7F AORs. He earned his Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) and Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) Boarding Officer qualifications. During this tour he was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. Following his O’KANE’s tour, Command Master Chief Gordon reported to U.S. Pacific Fleet Command as N004 Senior Enlisted Leader. He was selected for the Command Senior Chief program in 2017 and is a graduate of the Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 201. In 2018, he served as the 3MC aboard USS SAN DIEGO (LPD 22) and shortly afterwards was selected to Command Master Chief. His current assignment is Command Master Chief, USS HIGGINS (DDG 76).
He holds a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Management from American Military University and Associate’s of Arts Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Technology from Coastline Community College.
His personal awards include two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, six Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and various campaign, unit and service decorations.
