Captain Jeremy Gray is a native of Chesapeake, VA. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1996 with a Bachelors of Science in Naval Architecture. He also holds a Masters of Arts in International Studies (Eastern Europe and Russia) from the Naval Post Graduate School.
His assignments at sea include Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer in USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG 51), Assistant Damage Control Assistant in USS NIMITZ (CVN 68), Operations Officer in USS MILIUS (DDG 69), Operations Officer in to USS SHILOH (CG 67), Operations Officer in USS CHANCELLORSVILLE (CG 62), Executive Officer in USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2), Commanding Officer in USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2), and Commanding Officer of Pre-Commissioning Unit LYNDON B. JOHNSON (DDG 1002). Captain Gray assumed command of USS MOBILE BAY (CG 53) in July 2020.
Ashore, he served as an Operations Analyst in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Assessments Division (N81); a Plans Officer in Special Operations Command Europe, Logistics Directorate (J4) Operations and Plans Division; the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) SOF Logistics Director (CJ4) in Kabul, Afghanistan, and Chief Staff Officer, Littoral Combat Ship Squadron ONE.
Captain Gray’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), and the Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards).
