Cmdr. Derek C. Jaskowiak, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering. He is also a 2004 graduate from the Naval Postgraduate, earning a Masters of Science in Systems Technology, Joint C4I.
Jaskowiak’s sea duty assignments include serving as first lieutenant and anti-submarine warfare officer aboard USS Roosevelt (DDG 80); reactor propulsion division officer aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75); department head tours as operations officer aboard USS Ford (FFG 54); and reactor training assistant aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68).
Ashore, Jaskowiak served as Deputy N3 and Anti-submarine Warfare/Surface Warfare (ASW/SUW) Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) at the Sea Combat Division of Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC), Director of Training/Director of Engineering Training at Afloat Training Group San Diego (ATGSD), and Prospective Nuclear Engineering Officer (PNEO) Coordinator at Commander Naval Air Forces Atlantic (CNAL).
His current assignment is executive officer, USS Oakland (LCS 24).
Cmdr. Jaskowiak’s personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and various campaign medals and unit awards.
