Master Chief Mark L. Christman, a native of St. Louis, MO, graduated Cleveland NJROTC high school in 1996, and enlisted in the Navy in August. He attended Basic Training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, IL.

Following Basic Training he was selected to serve in the US Navy Ceremonial Honor Guard in Washington DC, until October 1998. In November, he reported to Naval Training Center, Great Lakes IL to attended Advance Electronics Computer Field Tec-Core School then attended Fire Contolman (FC) Rating, “A” school and was advance to Third Class Petty Officer. He then attended “C” school in Fleet Training Center, San Diego, CA as a Close In Weapons Systems (CIWS) technician.

His first sea duty assignment was USS O’KANE (DDG-77) in Pearl Harbor, HI where he earned his ESWS qualification and advanced to and Second Class Petty Officer and First Class Petty Officer. In February of 2004, he transferred to Navy Information Operations Command, Hawaii serving as the Operations Chief for the Security Department and was selected to Chief Petty Officer in 2006. In March of 2007, he attended Mark 160 Gun Fire Control System “C” School in Dam Neck, VA and reported to the USS HOPPER (DDG-70) in Pearl Harbor, HI. In July 2010, he report to Afloat Training Group (ATG) San Diego, CA and was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer, earning his Afloat and Master Training Specialist’s qualifications. In September of 2013 he report the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Squadron One in San Diego, CA for pre-commissioning and outfitting of Surface Warfare Detachment FOUR (SUW DET 4) “The Horsemen”.

He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 177, Blue), and a graduate of 136th Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course. He reported as Command Senior Chief of LCS Crew 104 “Juggernauts” in February 2015 and was advanced to Master Chief in May of 2015.

His personal decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Award (six awards) and the Good Conduct Award (six awards), as well as various unit awards, campaign and service decorations.
