Commander Murawski, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, was commissioned through Officer Candidate School after graduating from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics.
After attending Surface Warfare Officer’s School in Newport, RI, he reported to USS PORTER (DDG 78), where he served as First Lieutenant and Auxiliaries Officer. For his second Division Officer tour, CDR Murawski served as the Operations Officer for MHC Crew PRESTIGE onboard USS FALCON (MHC 59).
His Department Head tour was on USS STOCKDALE (DDG 106) as Operations Officer. While onboard STOCKDALE, he completed the ship’s maiden deployment in the Seventh Fleet AOR.
CDR Murawski then executed XO/CO fleet up with MCM Crew BULWARK, completing a rotational Fifth Fleet deployment while XO and another while in command of USS SENTRY (MCM 3). He spent his last year in command of USS ARDENT (MCM 12) in San Diego, CA.
CDR Murawski’s previous tour was as Commanding Officer of USS VICKSBURG (CG 69) where he led the ship through the first two years of the CG Modernization Program. This included two SSRAs that spanned 19 months and executed 120 million dollars of maintenance and modernization for the ship. His last sea tour was as Executive Officer of USS RAFAEL PERALTA (DDG 115).
CDR Murawski’s first shore assignment was as Flag Lieutenant for the Deputy, Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command. He has a M.S. in Applied Physics from the Naval Postgraduate School, a Master’s degree in Military History from the Army Command and Staff College, and a MBA from the University of Nebraska.
CDR Murawski’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
CDR Murawski assumed command of the USS RAFAEL PERALTA on November 17, 2020.
