Command Master Chief Tshombe S. Harris is a native of New Orleans, La. Master Chief Harris was raised and educated in the country of Israel before returning to the United States just after the end of the first Gulf War. He enlisted in the Navy in November 1994 as undesignated seaman apprentice.

Upon completion of Recruit Basic Training in Great Lakes, he reported to his first command as a Deck Seaman. In 1998 he was cross-rated as a Cryptologic Technicians Interpretive (Hebrew), and for retention purposes, in 1999 he changed rates to Religious Program Specialist.  In 2018, he was selected to laterally covert to the Command Senior Enlisted Leader program in which he now continues to serve.

Sea duty assignments include: USS LAKE ERIE (CG-70) homeport Pearl Harbor; SEVENTH FLEET STAFF embarked USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19); and a deployment embarked aboard USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD-49); He completed three WESTPAC and six SOUTHERN SWING deployments, and participated in key bilateral and multilateral exercise engagements with allied partners across the Pacific to include CARAT, TALISMAN SABRE, ULCHI FREEDOM GUARDIAN, VALIANT SHIELD, humanitarian missions such OPERATION TOMODACHI and many others. He served as the final Command Master Chief onboard the USS SCOUT (MCM 8) from 2018 until her decommissioning in August of 2020.

Shore assignments include Naval Security Group Activities at Fort Gordon Georgia; Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island South Carolina; Naval Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL; Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific, Pearl Harbor, HI; Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan; Naval Forces/Naval Region Japan; and Naval Surface Force U.S. Pacific.

Master Chief Harris is an honor graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 193 Gray) and CMC/COB Course (Class 193). His additional education includes Senior Enlisted Professional Military Education; Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education; and Computer Engineering & Technology at Grantham University.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal, and various unit and campaign awards. He is the recipient of the prestigious Peter Tomich Award for exceptional military excellence from the Senior Enlisted Academy, and Dean's List honors from the Navy War College.

Master Chief Harris currently serves as the Command Master Chief onboard USS RAFAEL PERALTA.
