A native of Parsippany, New Jersey and a graduate of The Citadel, Cmdr. Andrew Greenlees was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps Program in 2004. Additionally, he holds a Master of Science degree in Information Systems and Operations from the Naval Postgraduate School.

His sea duty assignments include communications officer aboard USS Klakring (FFG 42), Boat Detachment 612 OIC for Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron Six, Operations Officer aboard USS Gary (FFG 51) and Staff Director for Destroyer Squadron 23. During these tours he deployed overseas four times and operated in the European, Central, and Southern Command areas of responsibility.

Ashore, he served as Company Commander for Navy Provisional Detainee Battalion Ramadi, Multi-National Forces-Iraq; as the junior officer sea coordinator; as the executive assistant for PERS-4; and as a pol mil planner for China in the Joint Staff, J5. 

His current assignment is executive officer, USS Tulsa (LCS 16) Blue Crew.

His personal awards include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Army Achievement Medal, and various campaign and unit awards.
