A native of Vacaville, CA, Senior Chief Horton graduated from Will C. Wood High School and joined the U.S. Navy in September 1999. Following basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois, she graduated aviation boatswain mate “A” school. She cross-rated to master-at-arms and graduated the rate “A” school in May 2002.
Her sea tours include serving with the Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron Six and Four as the training lead petty officer and Tactical Action Supervisor (TACSUP) for Iraq oil platforms; serving at Naval Station Bahrain Harbor Patrol as a field training officer, water survival instructor, and lead instructor for Naval Station Bahrain Coxswain Academy. She then served as lead chief petty officer of Alpha Company 2nd Platoon at Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific in Bangor, Washington; and Senior Enlisted leader for Security Department, Coastal Riverine Squadron One, Detachment Guam.
Horton’s shore duty assignments include serving as an aircraft firefighting instructor for six air squadrons at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California; serving as a patrolman at Naval Base San Diego; serving as security department head and Director of Administration (DFA) Senior Enlisted at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, California.
Horton’s current assignment is Command Senior Chief, USS Tulsa (LCS 16) Gold Crew.
Her personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and many other personal, unit and citation awards.
