Master Chief Coston is a native of Hertford, NC. He enlisted in the Navy in July 1998 as an undesignated Seaman. He attended Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, IL, followed by seaman apprenticeship training. He is designated a specialist in Surface and Information Warfare.

His sea duty assignments include USS TAYLOR (FFG-50), homeported in Mayport, Florida, where he served in OD Division and OC Division as a Transmission System Technician; USS RAMAGE (DDG-61), homeported in Norfolk Virginia, where he served as CC Division Leading Petty Officer; USS ROBERT G. BRADLEY (FFG-49), homeported in Mayport Florida as the Leading Chief Petty Officer, Information System Security Manager for CC Division, Combat System Officer during decommissioning, and was selected for advancement to Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2013, additionally, he served onboard USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG-68), homported in Mayport Florida, as CC Division Leading Chief Petty Officer.  He is currently serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader at COMDESRON 23, in San Diego, CA.

Ashore, he served at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Hampton Roads where he served as the Technical Control Facility Operations Chief.  While on tour in 2010 at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic, he was selected for advancement to Chief Petty Officer and served as a Joint Fleet Telecommunications Operations Center Watch Officer and Message Center Operations Leading Petty Officer.  In 2016, he reported to Naval Air Facility EL Centro as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

Master Chief Coston’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3), Navy Achievement Medal (5), Good Conduct Medal (6), and various unit and campaign awards.

He is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland University College in Network Administration and Cybersecurity
