A native of Lima, OH, Commander Hollon graduated from Principia College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from Walden University.  He earned his commission as a Supply Corps Officer via Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL.
 
Afloat, Commander Hollon served his division officer tours as Disbursing and Sales Officer in USS TICONDEROGA (CG 47) where he laterally transferred and qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer, and Damage Control Assistant and Auxiliaries Officer in USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66) and USS LABOON (DDG 58) as part of the Atlantic Fleet sea swap initiative.  As a department head, he served as Chief Engineer in USS MOMSEN (DDG 92) and USS CHOSIN (CG 65).  Most recently he served as Executive Officer in USS CHUNG-HOON (DDG-93).  He has completed five deployments including counter narcotics operations in South and Central America, an Expeditionary Strike Group deployment to Fifth Fleet, and three Carrier Strike Group Deployments to Fifth and Seventh Fleet.
 
Ashore, Commander Hollon served as Associate Professor of Naval Science at The University of Arizona, Engineering and Material Readiness instructor at Surface Warfare Officer School, Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff and lead Engineering Inspector on Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet’s Material Inspection Team, and Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training and performance analysis lead at Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center.  He is a graduate of the Anti-Submarine and Anti-Surface Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) program. 
 
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal in addition to various unit and campaign awards.
