Commander Rob Niemeyer is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. He was commissioned in 2002 upon graduation from the United States Naval Academy, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree, with distinction, in quantitative economics. He later earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. Previous at sea assignments include tours as Combat Information Center and Electronic Warfare Officer in USS CORONADO (AGF 11), Training Officer and Damage Control Assistant in USS THACH (FFG 43), and Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS PINCKNEY (DDG 91).
While ashore he has served on the Chief of Naval Operations Staff, Programming Division (N80) as the Shipbuilding, Surface, Expeditionary and Mine Warfare analyst and in the Surface Warfare Directorate (N96) as the Deputy Branch Head for Finance, as well as the Officer in Charge of the Surface Warfare Officers School’s Basic Division Officer Course in San Diego. He most recently served as Executive Officer in USS MILIUS (DDG 69) from November 2018 through May 2020.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and service ribbons and citations.
