A native of Naples, Florida, Commander Dylan Ross graduated from the US Naval Academy in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in English, and a minor in Japanese. He received a Master of Science in Systems Technology from the Naval Postgraduate School and completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase I from the Naval War College.

At sea assignments include Communications Officer in USS SHILOH (CG 67), Damage Control Assistant in USS GLADIATOR (MCM 11),  Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS CARNEY (DDG 64), and commissioning Operations Officer in USS MICHAEL MONSOOR (DDG 1001). 

Shore-duty assignments include instructor at the Surface Warfare Officer School, an Integrated Air Defense Warfare Tactics Instructor at the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center Dahlgren Division, and an instructor at the Aegis Training and Readiness Center. 

Commander Ross has been awarded three Navy Commendation Medals and three Navy Achievement Medals as well as various other service awards. He also served with a team that won the Battle Efficiency award and the Arizona Memorial Trophy.
