Captain Jeremy Gray is a native of Chesapeake, VA. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1996 with a Bachelors of Science in Naval Architecture. He also holds a Masters of Arts in International Studies (Eastern Europe and Russia) from the Naval Post Graduate School.
His assignments at sea include Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer in USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG 51), Assistant Damage Control Assistant in USS NIMITZ (CVN 68), Operations Officer in USS MILIUS (DDG 69), Operations Officer in USS SHILOH (CG 67), Operations Officer in USS CHANCELLORSVILLE (CG 62), Executive Officer and Commanding Officer in USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2). CAPT Gray has been assigned as the Prospective Commanding Officer of Pre-Commissioning Unit LYNDON B. JOHNSON (DDG 1002).
Ashore, he served as an Operations Analyst in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Assessments Division (N81); as a Plans Officer in Special Operations Command Europe, Logistics Directorate (J4) Operations and Plans Division; and as the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) SOF Logistics Director (CJ4) in Kabul, Afghanistan. His most recent assignment was as Chief Staff Officer, Littoral Combat Ship Squadron ONE.
CAPT Gray's decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
