LCDR Patrick Kiefer is a native of Kansas City, Missouri and Seattle, Washington. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from Oregon State University (OSU) in Corvallis, Oregon and received his commission through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps program at OSU in 2006. Additionally, he earned a Masters of Arts in National Security Affairs focusing on the Far East, South East Asia, and the Pacific from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California in 2013.
At sea, LCDR Kiefer has served in USS McCAMPBELL (DDG 85) as the MP Division Officer and, then, as the Navigator, and in USS SHILOH (CG 67) as the Weapons Officer and, then, as the Combat Systems Officer; both McCAMPBELL and SHILOH were homeported in Yokosuka, Japan.
Ashore, LCDR Kiefer has served on the staff of U.S. Naval Forces, Europe/U.S. Naval Forces, Africa/U.S. SIXTH Fleet in Naples, Italy, on the staff of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and as the flag aide for the Program Executive for Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense and Sea-Based Weapon Systems at the MDA in Dahlgren, Virginia.
