Lieutenant Commander Beatty is a native of Buckley, WA.  He graduated from Pacific Lutheran University (Tacoma, WA) in 2006 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  He also holds a Master of Arts in Homeland Security.

At sea, LCDR Beatty served as First Lieutenant and Force Protection Officer in USS STOUT (DDG 55) and Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66).

Ashore, LCDR Beatty served as Assistant Operations Officer for Naval Station Everett and LSD Type Desk Officer for Commander, Naval Surface Forces Atlantic.  While ashore he volunteered for an IA assignment conducting Detainee Operations in support of the Legal Operations Directorate, Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435 (CJIATF 435) located at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. 

His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Naval Achievement Medal and numerous unit and campaign awards. LCDR Beatty assumed duties as Executive Officer of Afloat Training Group Pacific Northwest on 16 August 2019.
