Lt. Cmdr. Eric Hernandez enlisted in the Navy in 1996. He later commissioned through the Seaman to Admiral-21 program and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management from Texas A&M in 2006.

His sea duty assignments include serving as the forward boiler officer aboard USS Tarawa (LHA 1); as the operations officer aboard USS Devastator (MCM 6), USS Scout (MCM 8), USS Sentry (MCM 3), USS Champion (MCM 4); and as combat systems officer and operations officer aboard USS Jackson (LCS 6).

His shore duty assignments include serving as a J39 mission commander on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and as N3 of CTF- 52/Mine Countermeasures Squadron Five (MCMRON FIVE). His current assignment is Chief Staff Officer, Mine Countermeasures Squadron THREE and Mine Division TWELVE.

His personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards) and the Good Conduct Medal (three awards). ​​​​​​​​​​​​
