Amanda is originally from Humble, Texas. Upon commission, she reported to USS MOBILE BAY (CG 53). On MOBILE BAY she served as CIC Officer. She completed one training cycle and two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Her second Division Officer tour was onboard USS RENTZ (FFG 46) where she completed one training cycle and a deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom-Philippines.
For her shore duty tours, Amanda completed a Master’s Degree of Business Administration in Defense Financial Management at the Naval Postgraduate School. Afterwards, she attended the Defense Language Institute and completed the Spanish language program.
Amanda served 40 months as a Chief Engineer. Her first Department Head tour was onboard the USS RODNEY M. DAVIS (FFG 60) where she completed a challenging $50 million dollar DSRA, followed by Light Off Assessment, and then a successful Engineering Operations Certification. Her second tour was onboard the USS CHOSIN (CG 65). On CHOSIN she orchestrated 7 maintenance availabilities and won the MIDPAC Energy Conservation Award for 2 consecutive years. She served as the Senior Watch Officer during both tours. She reported to SWSC as the Gas Turbine Lead Instructor in September 2015 and will return to sea after serving two years as the Junior Officer Shore Coordinator at Navy Personnel Command in PERS-41.
Commander Browning’s personal awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, 3 Navy Commendation Medals, 3 Naval Achievement medals and various campaign and service awards.
