Senior Enlisted Leader, USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6)

05 February 2021 Senior Chief Camacho is a native of McAllen, Texas. He graduated from Hidalgo High School in May 1996 and entered the U.S. Navy, attending basic training in Great Lakes in June 1996.

Senior Chief Camacho attended Boiler Technician/Machinist Mate Apprentice School in NTC Great Lakes, IL, and his first duty assignment was aboard USS MOUNT HOOD (AE 29) in Alameda, California, where he served in Main Propulsion Division as a Maintenance person and power plant operator.  After decommissioning he was assigned to USS INCHON (MCS 12), Ingleside, TX.  He then reported to Naval Recruiting District, San Antonio, and he was a hometown recruiter in McAllen, Texas.

In 2004, he reported aboard USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) and was Hydraulics’ shop LPO.  He reported to Naval Recruiting District, San Antonio, for the second time and in 2012 he was reassigned aboard USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) to Reactor Department where he was selected for Chief Petty Officer, serving as the RP01 and RX40 LCPO. In September of 2015, he reported to Southwest Reginal Maintenance Center (SWRMC), San Diego where he was assigned as the Maintenance Assistant Team LCPO. He was selected for Senior Chief and was reassigned to be the Senior Enlisted Advisor for Machine Shop Code 940.

In March of 2018, he reported aboard USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6) and was the Engineering Department and Main Propulsion Division LCPO.  In January 2021, Senior Chief Camacho was assigned as USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6) Senior Enlisted Leader.
Senior Chief is currently attending the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 238 “Red”.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), and various other personal and unit awards.

He is also qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Engineering Officer of the Watch aboard USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6).

Senior Chief Camacho is married to Gabriela Camacho and has two children, Jose and Gabriela.
