Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Lieutenant Chan is a 2008 graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in History.


His initial sea tours were onboard USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42) as the Electrical Officer and  USS HIGGINS (DDG 76) as the Training Officer and Anti-Submarine Evaluator. 


Ashore, LT Chan served as a Naval Gunfire Liaison Officer (NGLO) instructor at Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Pacific.  Additionally, LT Chan was handpicked for an Individual Augmentee (IA) assignment to Special Operations Command, Pacific (SOCPAC) as Officer-In-Charge of the Maritime Support Vessel (MSV) M/V C-CHAMPION, a government chartered vessel designed for direct support of Naval Special Warfare.


Following Department Head school, LT Chan was assigned to USS PATRIOT (MCM 7) as the Operations Officer.  LT Chan’s second department head tour was onboard USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6) as Navigator during RIMPAC 2018 and San Francisco Fleet Week.


LT Chan was assigned to Expeditionary Strike Group 3 as part of the N3 Operations staff.  LT Chan served as an action officer for San Francisco Fleet Week and exercises Pacific Blitz 2019, Pacific Sentry 2019, and Iron Fist 2020.


LT Chan is currently serving as the acting Executive Officer onboard USS CAPE ST. GEORGE (CG 71).


LT Chan's awards include the Joint Commendation Medal, the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other personal, unit, and service awards.
