LCDR Marty Blomberg

Past Executive Officer, USS Miguel Keith (ESB-5)

11 April 2021 Originally from the Black Hills of South Dakota, LCDR Marty Blomberg first enlisted in the United States Navy in 1998 and served aboard the USS Princeton (CG 59) as an Electronics Technician from 1999-2002. After earning a Seaman to Admiral-21 Scholarship, he graduated with a degree in Marine Environmental Science from the State University of New York Maritime and was commissioned in 2006. 

He completed his first division officer tour as 1^st LT aboard the USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) and then served a tour as Navigator of USS Milius (DDG 69).  Then, while ashore, he earned a Master’s Degree in Combat Systems from the Physics Department at the Naval Postgraduate School and completed JPME Phase I. 

After graduating from SWOS department head course he served twice as an Operations Officer, first aboard the USS Gridley (DDG 101) and then on the USS Philippine Sea (CG 56).

He then completed two shore tours including the Sixth Fleet staff as a future operations planner and a short tour on the SMWDC MIW staff. He is currently serving as the Executive Officer on the USNS Miguel Keith (ESB 5) Blue Crew.

LCDR Blomberg’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy Commendation Medals, and five Navy Achievement Medals as well as various other unit level awards.
