Lieutenant Commander Aaron Jochimsen enlisted in the navy in 2001, as an Engineman, and served five years in USS Chosin (CG 65) where he was selected for the navy’s Seaman to Admiral Program. He is a 2010 graduate of the University of Wisconsin and earned his qualifications as a Surface Warfare Officer in 2011.
 
Afloat, as a Department Head LCDR Jochimsen served as the Weapons Officer in USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) completing an around-the-world deployment with the John C. Stennis Strike Group.  As a Division Officer, he served both tours in USS Chancellorsville (CG 62) as First Lieutenant, Auxilliaries Officer (AUXO), Administrative Officer, and Navigator.  He has completed deployments in every numbered fleet. 
 
Ashore, LCDR Jochimsen is a graduate of the first ever Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) / Anti-Surface Warfare (ASuW) Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) course of instruction.  He served his production tour at the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) Headquarters in N5 (Doctrine, Tactics, and Advanced Concepts).  He graduated in June 2015 from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) with a Master of Arts degree in Homeland Security and Defense and completed Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I.  
 
In April 2021, LCDR Jochimsen assumed duties as Executive Officer in USS Pioneer (MCM 9), homeported in Sasebo, Japan.   
 
Personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal (6 Awards), Navy Achievement Medal (5), and various other personal, unit, and campaign awards.
