Senior Chief Pittenger is a native of Florida and enlisted in the United States Navy in October of 1990. He attended basic training at Recruit Training Center, Orlando, Florida and then completed Seaman Apprenticeship Training at Naval Training Center Orlando, Florida. He attended Mineman “A” School in November 2002 and is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 230 Red Group.

Senior Chief Pittenger has deployed in support of Operations Desert Shield, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom. He has completed certification as a Master and Afloat Training Specialist and is qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Small Craft Petty Officer in Charge.

Senior Chief Pittenger’s shore tours include Naval Air Station Pensacola, Mobile Mine Assembly Detachment 12 Misawa Japan, Navy Recruiting District Portland Oregon, and Afloat Training Group San Diego, and Navy Munitions Command East Asia Division Unit Guam. His sea tours include serving aboard USS FLATLEY (FFG 21), USS DEFENDER (MCM 2), USS WARRIOR (MCM 10), USS DEXTROUS (MCM 13), USS CHIEF (MCM 14), USS PIONEER (MCM 9), Littoral Combat Ship Mine Countermeasures Detachment Two, USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2) and is currently serving as Senior Enlisted Leader, Commander, Mine Countermeasures Squadron 7.

Senior Chief Pittenger is married to Beverly with two children, Christopher and Kristen. He has been awarded the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (eight awards), Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (six awards), Navy Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (two awards), and various campaign, expeditionary, and unit awards.
