Senior Chief Andrew Worth, a native of Sandy, Utah, enlisted in the Navy in 1995. Upon completing basic training, he attended Naval Air Crew Candidate School (NACCS), Aviation Rescue Swimmer School (ARSS), Aviation Warfare System Operator Apprentice School, Fleet Replacement Aircrew School, Advanced Acoustic Operator C-school. He also earned a bachelor of science from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
At sea, Worth has served aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65), USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), USNS Fred W. Stockham (T-AK-3017) and USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93).
Worth’s shore assignments included Aviation Rescue Swimmer School as a high risk instructor where he qualified as a master training specialist. He then served at Naval Air Station Whidbey Search and Rescue (SAR) at Whidbey Island, Wash., qualifying as a Helicopter Inland Rescue Crewman, rescuing 118 civilians during his tenure.
He conducted multiple operational deployments with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 85 (HSC-85) in San Diego, Calif. serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader while deployed to the United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) area of responsibility under the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
Worth’s current assignment is Command Senior Chief, USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10), Gold crew.
His personal awards include a Single Action Air Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NHA Aircrew of the Year award (two awards), Sikorsky Rescue Awards (20 awards), Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist Insignia, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist Insignia, and Enlisted Naval Aircrew Wings.
