Cmdr. Joshua Freeze is a Texas native.  He is a 2005 graduate of Point Loma Nazarene University and was commissioned through the Seaman-to-Admiral Program.
 
His sea tours include serving aboard USS Elliot (DD 967), USS Constellation (CV 64), and USS Nimitz (CVN 68) as an enlisted Damage Controlman and Master-at-Arms.  Post commissioning, he has served as the Main Propulsion Officer aboard USS Lake Champlain (CG 57), the OI Division Officer aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68), and the Combat Systems Officer and Operations Officer serving aboard both USS Coronado (LCS 4) and the commissioning crew of USS Jackson (LCS 6).
 
Ashore, he earned a masters degree in systems analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School.  He served as the Assistant Officer-in-Charge of the Southern California Offshore Range (SCORE) and the Mine Countermeasure Ships (MCM) Surface Requirements Officer for Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center-Mine Warfare Division (SMWDC MIW).
 
His current assignment is executive officer aboard USS Independence (LCS 2).
 
His personal awards and decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
