 Master Chief Tilden was raised in Muskegon, MI and graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central in 1991.  He entered the United States Navy in May 1995, and completed Aviation Electronics Technician School AT (I/O) "A" school at Naval Training Center, Millington, Tennessee in March 1996.

He has deployed on USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV 67), USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65), USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69), and USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75) as a technician for the Forward Looking Infra-Red systems for the S-3, F-14, and F/A-18 aircraft.  While onboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), homeported in Yokosuka, Japan, he was the Leading Chief Petty Officer for AIMD’s Aviation/Ordnance Division.  He served as the Maintenance Master Chief/AIMD Department Leading Chief Petty Officer onboard the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71).  Following his tour on the Roosevelt, he was assigned to USS BOXER (LHD 4) where he served as AIMD’s Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer and took on responsibilities as the Acting Command Senior Enlisted Leader.  
Ashore, he served at Fleet Readiness Center Mid Atlantic, Virginia Beach VA as a technical expert for the Electro Optical Test Set (EOTS) and Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS) testing equipment.  After returning from Japan with his family, he was assigned to Fleet Readiness Center South West, San Diego, CA as the Maintenance Senior Chief
He completed the Command Master Chief course in May of 2021 and reported to his first Command, USS RUSSELL (DDG 59) in June of 21.

His personal decorations and awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various campaign and unit decorations.
