CDR William Carr

Past Commanding Officer, USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) Gold Crew

11 June 2021 A native of Bunkie, Louisiana, Cmdr. William Carr earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History from the United States Naval Academy and commissioned in May 2002. He was selected as an Olmsted Scholar in Kyoto, Japan where he earned a Master’s Degree in International Studies from Doshisha University.
                   
His operational tours include serving as strike officer aboard USS John S. McCain (DDG 56); Combat Information Center Officer aboard USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81); Operations Officer aboard USS Curts (FFG 38); Operations Officer aboard USS Coronado (LCS 4); and Executive Officer of USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) Gold Crew.                   
 
Ashore, he served as the Japan Plans and Policy Officer for the Joint Staff, J5; Deputy Battle Captain in the National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center; littoral combat ship mission packages requirements officer for OPNAV N96; and on the staff of Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet in Coronado, California.
 
His current assignment is Commanding Officer of USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) Gold Crew.
 
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
