Lt. Cmdr. Daniel Sledz is a native of Long Island, New York. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Systems Technology in 2006, receiving his commission through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) program.
 
Following his commissioning and acceptance into the Immediate Graduate Education Program (IGEP), he reported for a year of study at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California, completing a Master of Science degree in Modeling, Virtual Environments and Simulation.
 
At sea, he has served aboard USS Boxer (LHD 4) as Automated Data Processing (ADP) Officer and Information Assurance Manager (IAM); USS Milius (DDG 69) as Navigator; and as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer aboard USS Higgins (DDG 76).

Ashore, he has served as an Anti-Submarine Warfare/Surface Warfare (ASW/SUW) Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) and Branch Head of the N8/N9, Requirements and Experimentation Branch, at the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC), Sea Combat Division. He has also served as Flag Aide to the Commander of the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR).
 
His current assignment is executive officer, PCU Savannah (LCS 28) Blue Crew.

His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit and service awards.
