Command Chief Hampton is a native of Chicago, Illinois, and enlisted in the United States Navy in August 1993.  Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California he reported to Equipment Operator “A” school, Port Hueneme, California, where he completed apprenticeship training.
 
Upon graduation, he reported for duty with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FORTY where he was assigned to ALFA Company.  His fleet assignments include, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion THREE, Port Hueneme, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FIVE, and Naval Construction Battalion FOUR, Port Hueneme.  In addition, Command Master Chief Hampton completed shore assignments at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, Recruit Training Command Great Lakes and as a Detailer at Navy Personnel Command, Millington.
 
Command Master Chief Hampton is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 180 Brown and the Command Master Chief Capstone Course.  He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration, in Human Resource Management from Grantham University.
  
His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
