Afloat, he served aboard USS VICKSBURG (CG 69) as First Lieutenant and Gunnery Officer in support of the JOHN F KENNEDY Strike Group during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Following completion of Naval Nuclear Propulsion training, he reported to USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) and served as Reactor Controls Division Officer. He served as Operations Officer on USS CARNEY (DDG 64) during execution of NATO counter-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden supporting Operation Ocean Shield. He also served as Reactor Electrical Assistant on USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75), which deployed to the Arabian Sea and Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
His most recent assignment was as Executive Officer on USS SHOUP, which completed an extensive maintenance and modernization period and has returned to at sea operations.
Shore assignments included Instructor duty at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command serving as the Director of Reactor Principles Division. He most recently served ashore at Surface Warfare Officer’s School Command as the International Training Director and Academic Director for Fleet Training.
Commander Boza’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various theater/service medals and ribbons.
