A native of Sherrills Ford, NC, Commander Rogers is a 2001 graduate from North Carolina State University and received his commission through the NROTC program. Additionally, he holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
At sea, Commander Rogers' assignments include Main Propulsion Assistant on board USS Reuben James (FFG 57); Navigator on board USS Thomas S. Gates (CG 51); and Chief Engineer and Combat Systems Officer on board USS Mason (DDG 87). His most recent assignment was Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of USS Russell (DDG 59). He has deployed multiple times to U.S. Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Fleet Areas of Operations.
Ashore, he has served as a Gas Turbine Training Team Leader at Afloat Training Group Pacific; Flag Secretary to Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group 3; and Deputy Chairman of Seamanship and Navigation at the United States Naval Academy where he had the privelege to re-instate celestial navigation back into the professional curriculum at USNA as well as lead and mentor Midshipmen at sea along the Atlantice Seaboard in both 120' Yard Patrol (YP) Craft and Navy 44' Sail Training Craft.
Commander Rogers was selected as the Destroyer Squadron 2, 2010 Tactician of the Year and is authorized the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal.
He is currently serving as the Chief Staff Officer to Commander, Amphibious Squadron 3.
