Captain Jason Wells is a native of Honolulu, Hawaii and raised in Denton, Texas.  He graduated from Southwestern University in 1999 and has served in a variety of aviation, afloat, and ashore billets as a Naval Flight Officer.  His most recent assignment was to the Harvard Kennedy School of Government as a National Security Fellow.

His operational assignments include two tours with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron TWO (VQ-2) in the   Forward Deployed Naval Forces, Rota, Spain, Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron ONE (VQ-1), USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN-74), and as Commanding Officer of Special Projects Patrol Squadron TWO (VPU-2).  

Ashore, his assignments include the Bureau of Naval Personnel, the Joint Electronic Warfare Center, U.S. Strategic Command, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing TEN, and the Naval Aviation Systems Command.  

He assumed duties as the Chief of Staff, Carrier Strike Group ELEVEN in May 2020.

He completed a master’s degree from University of Maryland at College Park in International Economics and postgraduate education at the Naval Postgraduate School, Air Command and Staff College, and Joint Forces Staff College.  His subspecialties include Resource Management and Analysis, Space Systems Operations, Manpower Systems Analysis and Management, and Naval Strategy.
