Command Master Chief Jose Ramiro a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico enlisted in the Navy in June 1996. Upon completion of his first overseas deployment aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), he reported to Operation Specialist (OS) “A" School in Dam Neck, Virginia. Ramiro is a graduate of the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) Special Operations Planning course and Senior Enlisted Academy, as well as the Maritime Security Intelligence Officer (MSIO) course. Additionally, he has completed the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and the Command Master Chief and Chief of the Boat course.
His sea assignments include USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69); USS Doyle (FFG 39); USS McInerney (FFG 8); and Naval Forces Europe & Africa for U.S. 6th Fleet. He served as the senior enlisted leader (SEL) and Joint Operations Intelligence Center director for Sea, Air, and Land (SEAL) Team THREE at U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). He deployed numerous times as a maritime domain awareness (MDA) trainer and as a non-commissioned officer in charge (NCOIC) aboard USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20).
His shore assignments include watch commander, Security Response Team (SRT) and protective service detail of Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command for U.S. 4th Fleet at Naval Station Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico.
His tours as a command master chief include USS Billings (LCS 15), USS Detroit (LCS 7); USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112); and he most recently assumed duties as command master chief of Destroyer Squadron One (DESRON 1) in May 2021.
Ramiro’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4), Voluntary Service Medal, and numerous unit and campaign awards.
