Past Command Master Chief, USS Lake Erie (CG 70)

07 September 2021 Command Master Chief Randy Swanson enlisted in the Navy in February 1997 and completed basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois and Dental Technician “A” School in San Diego, California. 

Master Chief Swanson’s service includes deployments afloat USS BELLEAU WOOD (LHA-3), USS JOHN F. KENNEDY(CV-67), USS CHARLOTTE(SSN 766), and USS FRANK CABLE(AS 40).  Ashore he served at Naval Dental Center Northeast, Newport RI,  Naval Submarine Support Command, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and Naval Health Clinic Portsmouth New Hampshire. 

Master Chief Swanson has completed CMC tours at Naval Health Clinic New England, served as Command Senior Enlisted Leader of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Command Master Chief for Navy Medicine Readiness & Training Command, in Bethesda, Maryland.  In August 2021 he checked onboard to serve as Command Master Chief of USS LAKE ERIE (CG 70) homeported in San Diego, California. 

Master Chief Swanson is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy Class 217, Command Master Chief Course and has his Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Army Commendation Medal,  Navy Achievement Medal (seven awards) and other various unit and service campaign awards.
