CDR Shane R. Bobbe

Past Executive Officer, USS Barry (DDG 52)

27 September 2021 A native of Tower City, ND, CDR Shane Bobbe graduated from the US Naval Academy in 2005.  He later earned a Master’s Degree from the US Naval War College in 2017.  

At sea as a Division Officer, he served on USS FORT MCHENRY (LSD 43) as the Assistant First Lieutenant, deploying to West Africa in support of Africa Partnership Station and then on USS VELLA GULF (CG 72) as the Main Propulsion Assistant deploying to the Northern Atlantic for BALTOPS and then to the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.

As an afloat Department Head, Shane served on USS MUSTIN (DDG 89) as the Weapons Officer and fleeted up as the Combat Systems Officer, forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.

Ashore, he served as Operations Officer and later as Liaison to South/Southeast Asia at JIATF-West.  After his department head tours, he was assigned to PEP-Australia and reported as the Combat Systems Advisor to the Royal Australian Navy and Naval Technical Bureau.

He currently serves as the Executive Officer on the finest forward deployed destroyer, USS BARRY (DDG 52).
