Captain Christopher A. Brown was raised in Kingston, Jamaica and is a native of Queens, New York. He is a 1993 graduate of New York’s College of Aeronautics and earned his commission in 1998 through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. He also earned a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

At sea, Brown served on ships in both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets with deployed operations in the Atlantic, Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, and Western Pacific areas of operation. His sea assignments include assault officer, auxiliaries officer, and assistant combat information center officer in USS Kearsarge (LHD 3); fire control officer in USS Chancellorsville (CG 62); engineer officer in USS James E. Williams (DDG 95); assistant chief of staff for administration (N1) and flag secretary on the staff of Commander, Carrier Strike Group TEN (CCSG 10); executive officer in USS Freedom (LCS 1) and as commanding officer in USS Squall (PC 7), USS Typhoon (PC 5), USS Monsoon (PC 4), and USS Fort Worth (LCS 3).

Ashore, he served as current ships and maintenance requirements officer on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, Surface Warfare Division (N96); as branch head for networks, communications, and electromagnetic spectrum operations (N6) at Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) Headquarters and most recently as senior military evaluator in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Director, Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E).

His military decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various unit and expeditionary awards.
