CDR Peter Lesaca assumed duties as Commanding Officer of USS PREBLE in October 2021. CDR Lesaca is a native of San Diego, CA and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2003 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in History.

Afloat he served aboard USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66) and USS LABOON (DDG 58) in Norfolk, VA as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer, USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49) as Navigator in Sasebo, Japan, COMDESRON 23 as N6, USS DECATUR (DDG 73) in San Diego, CA as Weapons Officer, and USS CHUNG-HOON (DDG 93) in Pearl Harbor, HI as Combat Systems Officer.  

Ashore, CDR Lesaca served at Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center in San Diego, CA and U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM).  He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval War College and was a member of the college’s Halsey Alfa Advanced Research Group.  CDR Lesaca served as an ASW/SUW Warfare Tactics Instructor assigned to Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center, Sea Combat Division, San Diego, CA.

CDR Lesaca is the recipient of the 2012 Surface Navy Association-Pearl Harbor Chapter, Vice Admiral Kihune Award for Leadership, and the 2013 Navy League of the United States John Paul Jones Award for Inspirational Leadership.  His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and various other unit and campaign awards.
