Cmdr. Phillip Lundberg is a native of Tiburon, California and a 2006 graduate of Virginia Military Institute (VMI) where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degrees in International Studies and Modern Languages and Cultures.

Upon commissioning through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC), he reported aboard USS Bainbridge (DDG 96) in Norfolk, Virginia as the Communications Officer. His second division officer tour was aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) in Yokosuka, Japan as the Electrical Division and Topside Work Control Officer. After dropping from Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training, he served as the Lead Analyst for the J35 Iraqi Security Forces Readiness Cell in Baghdad, Iraq during Operation New Dawn. He then reported to Coastal Riverine Squadron Three (CRS 3) in Yorktown, Virginia and served as the Assistant Office-in-Charge of CRS 3 Detachment Yorktown.

His department head tours were served in Everett, Washington aboard USS Shoup (DDG 86) as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer. Post department head tour, he reported to Commander Task Force (CTF) 56 in Bahrain as the N7, Readiness and Exercises Officer.

Lundberg is currently assigned as executive officer, USS Omaha (LCS 12).

His personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various service and campaign awards.
